We eat unconsciously, we drink unconsciously, and we talk unconsciously. Although we claim to be conscious, we are completely unaware of the afflictions (anger, jealousy, bitterness, anxiety, insecurity, negative self-talk, etc.) rampaging through our minds and influencing everything we do. These delusions frequently hijack our minds. Once we can see what is inside the mind and how these negative states are the real cause of our present unhappiness and dissatisfaction, we can take steps to reduce them and allow the positive qualities that are at the core of our being to grow. With regular practice, a sense of freedom, peace, and happiness becomes a real possibility in our day-to-day lives.
 

Meditation will help you become fully present, fully conscious of what you are doing and why you are doing it every moment of your daily life.


Ultimately, no meditation style is inherently better than another. Some might feel easier or  more familiar to you. It depends upon your mind and what draws you. I work within a framework from the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, and influenced by my Burmese Vipassana teachers.
